This page lists software mounted on the UWI, Chemistry Department server at the Mona Campus, JAMAICA. By using the w3launcher program it is possible to securely launch software from a web document and avoid the problem of allowing binary files to be downloaded across the network that may be infected by viruses and to avoid large amounts of unnecessary network traffic since the binary files are held locally. See the w3launch home page for more information about how to set up this type of arrangement at your own site.

If you are accessing this page from a PC within the Chemistry Department, you can select links on this page to actually run the selected software.
If you are not accessing from the Chemistry PC Laboratory, then the links to the .w3l files will NOT WORK.

Not all of this software contains material that is a directly applicable to a Chemistry course.

• Simulation of Acid-Base Titrations
  Can be used for C06J, C10J or C24Q practical sessions. This exercise allows a variety of acid-base types to be chosen and plots of volume versus pH to be generated.

• Boltzmann random walk simulation
  Used for a timetabled practical in C33L.

• Periodic Table information
  Useful for C06K, C10K.

The following program is from the Univ. of Leeds, BMB server setup

• Protein Purification Laboratory
  Used for a timetabled practical in BIOC2060. There will be demonstrators available to help you just as in any other practical. You may also wish to come back to the program in your own time to refresh your understanding of the steps involved in protein purification.
