Succinate dehydrogenase

Succinate dehydrogenase is a flavoprotein containing the prosthetic group FAD. As described in Chapter 8, this enzyme is embedded in the inner mitochondrial membrane where it is a part of Complex II (succinate-Q reductase). The reaction involves oxidation of succinate to the trans-dicarboxylic acid, fumarate, with reduction of FAD to FADH2.
